Back in Balance
counseling & wellness
You look like you’re holding it together… but does it feel that way on the inside?
Helping high-achieving individuals, couples, teens, and families reconnect with themselves through practical tools, nervous system regulation, and evidence-based therapy.
Life can look successful on the outside while internally feeling overwhelming, disconnected, anxious, or exhausting to maintain. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, therapy can help you regain clarity, balance, and a stronger connection to yourself.
At Back in Balance Counseling & Wellness, therapy is more than just talking about problems. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based care designed to help clients begin creating meaningful change from the very first session. Together, we identify patterns, develop personalized treatment goals, and build tools that support long-term emotional wellness in everyday life.
A Modern, Holistic Approach to Mental Health
Healing is not only cognitive. It also involves the nervous system, the body, emotions, and the ways stress and life experiences impact how we function day to day. My work integrates evidence-based approaches including:
Behavioral Therapy
ACTION ORIENTED - GOAL DRIVEN
Behavioral therapy is rooted in the idea that behaviors are learned from the environment and, therefore, new, healthier habits can be learned to replace them. CBT focuses on reframing thought patterns & is best for anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, OCD, and addiction. DBT teaches mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness and is best for borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), chronic self-harm, eating disorders, and high-intensity emotional instability.
Somatic & Nervous System Regulation Techniques
Somatic and nervous system regulation techniques are body-based practices, such as breathing exercises, grounding, and movement designed to soothe the autonomic nervous system, moving from a state of fight-flight-freeze to safety and calm. These techniques are highly effective in therapy because they process trauma and anxiety stored physically in the body, which traditional talk therapy cannot always reach.
Mindfulness-Based Interventions
Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) are structured, evidence-based psychotherapy programs that use mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and cognitive techniques to help individuals develop a nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. They are highly effective in therapy because they reduce stress, anxiety, and depression by training the brain to stop rumination, and break the cycle of automatic, negative thoughts.
Psychoeducation, Skill Building & Solutions
Psychoeducation & skill building teach you about your mental health conditions to empower you, while solution-focused therapy is a future-oriented approach focusing on building solutions rather than dwelling in the problem. All are collaborative, goal-directed methods designed to help you develop coping strategies and create positive behavioral changes.
Psychoeducation provides the "what" and "why" (understanding the issue).
Skill Building provides the "how" (coping mechanisms).
Solution-Focused Therapy provides the "where" (targeting the desired future)
